Marc S. Volk

Mr. Volk has been with the firm since 1983, and is directly involved with all phases of our civil engineering design, environmental analysis and permitting, from concept through completion of construction. He is very well versed in environmental permitting and design, keeping current with new regulations, laws, interpretations, and practices, and applying them to project sites appropriately, efficiently, and cost effectively. Mr. Volk has a good rapport with local and state regulators and has represented many projects at public meetings. He is an experienced and respected wetland analyst and soil evaluator.

Marc is a native of Pittsfield, MA and attained the rank of Eagle in the Boy Scouts. He received a BS at UMASS Amherst with a concentration in Wetland and Soil Science. Previously, he studied Landscape Architecture at SUNY Syracuse and received an Associates degree in Forestry from Paul Smith College. He also had several years of construction experience prior to joining the firm.

His projects with Foresight Land Services have involved design of subdivision roads and utilities, site grading and drainage for shopping centers, assisted living complexes, numerous private homes, and industrial facilities. He is involved with septic systems, sewer systems, storm drainage and mitigation, erosion and sedimentation control measures, wetlands permitting, municipal and private water supply and distribution systems, landfills, bridge repairs and reconstruction, large-scale ground-mounted solar arrays, and dam repairs. His background in construction, together with his educational and practical experience, combines to make Mr. Volk an excellent Project Manager and environmental designer.

He is also well versed in surveying procedures and is often called on to assist with field data accumulation phases of engineering projects. He is especially proficient at site analysis, field investigation, soils, estimating quantities and costs, and construction observation.

Current and past projects include infrastructure, site design, and site permitting for clients such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow Dance, Williams College, and the Housatonic Valley Association.
